Villagers are part of Moonfrost’s progression, not just optional conversation. Their tasks teach systems, restore businesses, open workstations and recipes, move the village forward, and lead into home-building projects. The Early Access store says you can meet and befriend 11 villagers, with friendships currently capped at level 3. Complete friendship events and romance for all bachelors are described as goals for the full 1.0 version.
Current community directories cover 12 named people involved in village and surrounding-area play: Walter, Ash, Alba, Ronen, Gerald, Mikey, Celeste, Crow, Jack, Kyung, Ava, and Sabrina. That directory count includes quest contacts who may not all be counted in the store’s “11 villagers” wording. Use the game’s Contacts view and current quest state to decide who is presently available for friendship rather than forcing the two totals to mean the same thing.
Find a villager by role before memorizing a clock
Learn what each person does and which area anchors them. Walter connects early farming, the store, and cooking. Ash introduces tools and Build Mode. Alba directs major village rebuilding. Ronen is tied to fishing and the pub. Gerald connects furniture and restoration, while Mikey arrives through Gerald’s housing progress. Celeste brings the magic-shop thread; Crow belongs to the Cemetery story; Jack is associated with the Olunari Temple entrance; Kyung and Ava join Neighbourhood housing work; Sabrina is tied to the boutique.
Those roles are more stable than an exact minute-by-minute table. When a character is not where expected, go first to the place connected to the active task. Story scenes and quest steps can override a normal routine, and a villager may be inside a restored business, at a project site, in the pub, or temporarily unavailable.
Farm and first lessons
Walter and Ash are central to the opening teaching route. Re-read active tutorial tasks when a tool, crop, cooking, or building step is missing.
Quest state overrides routineVillage restoration
Alba directs rebuilding, while Walter, Gerald, Sabrina, and other residents become easier to locate as their businesses and gathering places reopen.

Ronen's fishing route and Jack's Temple role make the Mountain a character destination as well as a resource map.

Gerald, Mikey, Kyung, Ava, and later home projects connect relationship progress to recognised rooms and furnishing requirements.

Crow's route links a specific character thread with Cemetery travel, gathering, fishing, and later task conditions.
Follow the active questRead schedules as conditional routes
A schedule is not one permanent coordinate. Current detailed guides describe villagers moving across several places during the day, with story-specific positions taking priority. A restored shop or pub can also change where someone spends working or evening hours. Use a schedule as a search order: current task location, role location, restored workplace, social location, home, then the next time window.
When a schedule says “Village Square” or “around the Neighbourhood,” search the whole named area. Characters can walk between free points rather than stand on one marker. If the clock has just crossed a transition, allow travel time. If a cutscene or hand-in is pending, enter and leave the area once before declaring the NPC missing.
Do not transfer an old Alpha or Demo schedule into the Early Access branch without confirmation. Characters and their roles changed during development; official diaries explicitly describe work on more active routines. The current story stage is part of the location answer.
Raise friendship without wasting gifts
Talk when you meet someone and use the Contacts view to record reactions. Current community documentation says each character has gift preferences and that discovered reactions appear on the contact record. It also reports daily and weekly gift limits. Because values and limits can change, let the current UI decide whether another gift is accepted.
Give a known loved or liked item when you want efficient progress, but protect quest, recipe, and collection materials first. A neutral gift can be less damaging than guessing with something rare; a disliked or hated gift can reduce progress. Do not use an extracted preference list that lacks a current-build context as the sole reason to consume a difficult item.
Friendship progression in the launch build stops at level 3 according to the official store. A current community guide describes friendship quests as the bridge into higher available levels for many characters. When a bar is full but no level arrives, inspect the character’s active friendship task and any story or home prerequisite rather than continuing to hand over gifts.
Separate friendship, romance, and marriage expectations
Friendship is current Early Access gameplay. Full romance availability is not. The store’s full-version plan specifically mentions unlocking all friendship events and allowing romance with all bachelors. That wording means the relationship systems are intended to expand. It does not confirm that every bachelor has a complete romance route, marriage sequence, or shared-home outcome in the launch build.
Use the Romance Guide for the current yes-or-wait answer. Keep building friendship if you enjoy the available stories and rewards, but do not interpret a full level-3 bar as a hidden requirement for an undocumented romance event.
Build homes as quest projects
The store confirms that the player can build homes for several villagers. These projects combine story progress, Build Mode, specific room types, furniture, and decoration requirements. Treat each home as its own checklist. Build a recognised shell, add required rooms and objects, confirm each stage, then decorate freely.
If a resident has not moved in, inspect the task chain, named rooms, furniture requirements, and current stage. A beautiful building can still be incomplete if the quest wants a particular object or room type. Conversely, a functional home does not need to copy another player’s design exactly.
Current guides connect the Neighbourhood with multiple resident projects. Keep construction materials and furniture recipes organized by household so that one request does not consume another project’s reserved items. Take a screenshot of a working layout before a large renovation.
Recover a stalled relationship route
First identify whether the block is location, friendship, quest, item, building, or current content cap. For location, follow the conditional search order. For friendship, use Contacts and the current gift limit. For a quest, read every active task button and prerequisite. For a home, return to the room and furnishing checklist. For the cap, read Early Access Content and wait for a dated official expansion rather than inventing a trigger.
Report a reproducible issue with the character name, in-game time, map, active quest stage, friendship level, last successful action, and current build date. That information is more useful than a screenshot of an empty location alone. Continue to Quests for objective order or Crafting for home materials and Build Mode.
