Moonfrost Olunari Temple Guide

Prepare for the Olunari Temple, read symbols and hazards, use shortcuts and teleporters, and recognize the current Moonfrost Early Access depth boundary.

The Olunari Temple is Moonfrost’s exploration challenge: a sequence of rooms with enemies, hazards, symbol puzzles, doors, alternate paths, shortcuts, and teleporters. Enter with recovery supplies, free inventory slots, and one clear objective. Record the route as you go because the official Early Access launch covers only the opening portion, and not every locked path is meant to open in the current build.

Understand the launch boundary

The Steam Early Access description says you can adventure through the first 20 Temple rooms. The September 29 launch announcement says the Temple is available up to Level 19 and includes puzzles. Both are first-party statements. They may count an entrance, room, or level differently; they do not establish two editions or a hidden twentieth level.

Use the highest route your game actually exposes and preserve both labels when discussing the endpoint. If an objective ends, a door remains permanently locked, and no current path or interaction advances it near that boundary, consult dated official updates before treating the state as a bug.

Roadmap scope

Prepare before entering

Empty enough inventory to keep useful drops. Carry food or other recovery that your current build allows, and repair or replace tools and equipment used by the route. Read any Temple-related quest and speak to the relevant character near the entrance before assuming the door is freely available.

Set a return condition: reach the next teleporter, open one shortcut, solve one symbol room, finish a named task, or map a branch. A short successful run creates more progress than carrying a full bag deeper and losing track of the safe exit.

At the entrance, note the current objective, room or level label if shown, and any locked route visible on the map. That snapshot makes it easier to recognize what changed after a puzzle, combat room, or teleporter activation.

Read puzzles without guessing a universal code

Official Temple development material previews symbol tiles, traps, hidden routes, teleporters, and shortcuts. A current Moonfrost field guide says six symbol-tile types were shown and activated tiles can glow, but the developers did not publish a universal solution sequence. Treat each room as a local state puzzle.

Identify every symbol, plate, lever, door, hazard, and light before activating anything. Trigger one element, then observe which door, tile, hazard, or route changed. If the room can reset, test a controlled sequence and write it down. Avoid copying an answer that omits the room state, entrance direction, or current build.

Room feature
Observation
Action
Symbol tile
Shape, glow state, nearby matching mark
Activate one tile and record the state change before continuing.
Lever or plate
Door, hazard, or route connected to it
Test from a safe position and note whether the change persists.
Teleporter
Origin, destination, and whether both ends are active
Activate and label the pair before relying on it as the return route.
Shortcut
Which earlier junction it reconnects
Open it before pushing deeper so the next run is shorter.
Locked end
Quest state and current EA boundary
Look for a local unsolved branch, then stop if official scope explains the lock.

Handle hazards and route changes

Current game-data references include pressure plates, lever-linked doors, spike traps, and spinning blades. Use them as hazard categories, not fixed damage or timing values. Watch one full cycle from a safe edge, cross during the largest clear interval, and avoid combining a new hazard with an unknown enemy pattern.

When combat and traps overlap, reposition so the environment stays visible. Use a cleared room or opened shortcut as the retreat point. If a failed attempt consumes scarce recovery, practice the hazard alone before repeating the whole branch.

Mark one-way drops and doors that close behind you. If a teleporter or shortcut opens, confirm where it returns before exploring the next branch. A screenshot of the map and symbol state is more useful than a room number without orientation.

Recover when progress appears blocked

Search the current room for an unactivated symbol, lever, plate, alternate elevation, or side route. Backtrack to the last junction and test the branch you skipped. Confirm that the active Temple quest is at the correct stage and that required entrance dialogue completed. Use a teleporter only after verifying its destination.

If all local interactions are exhausted near the published depth boundary, stop and read Updates for an expansion. If the block occurs earlier, save the room or level label, entrance direction, visible symbols, activated objects, objective text, and build date for a report. Do not claim a permanent bug from one locked door without that context.
