Moonfrost Early Access Content

See what Moonfrost includes in Early Access, what remains planned for 1.0, and how the story, Temple, villagers, housing, platforms, and Demo are scoped.

Moonfrost entered Steam Early Access on October 12, 2026. The current build is a playable but incomplete version of the base game, not a time-limited test and not the finished 1.0 release. You can begin the story, farm, fish, cook, craft, rebuild parts of the village, befriend villagers, build homes, and explore the opening portion of the Olunari Temple. The clearest stopping points are story completion, Temple depth, and relationship caps—not an estimated hour count.

What the Early Access launch includes

Main story

The official store describes the entire first half of the storyline as playable. Later story chapters belong to the Early Access roadmap and 1.0 plan.

Olunari Temple

The store says the first 20 rooms are available. A September announcement says “up to Level 19.” Both describe the opening launch scope using different counting language.

Villagers

You can meet and befriend 11 villagers. Friendship is officially capped at level 3 in the launch build.

Village projects

Several businesses can be restored, streets can be cleaned and repaired, and homes can be built for the player and several villagers.

Making and decorating

The launch description includes hundreds of blueprints for furniture and decorations, alongside crafting, cooking, tools, outfits, and customization systems.

Core activities

Farming, fishing, cooking, gathering, exploration, village rebuilding, character relationships, and Build Mode are all presented as current systems.

The list tells you what kinds of play exist; it does not guarantee that every recipe, item record, relationship event, shop, map area, or furnishing is obtainable. When you are pursuing a precise entity, use a page that records its unlock and current availability rather than treating the broad store description as proof.

What is planned for 1.0 instead

The full version is planned to complete the main storyline, unlock all friendship events, and include the option to romance all bachelors. Oxalis Games also describes new features, new locations to rebuild, more villagers, and additional storylines as Early Access development continues. Those statements explain direction, but they are not a fixed delivery calendar for an individual feature.

The store says the team plans to add the whole main storyline in less than six months, while also warning that Early Access could last longer if more content is added in response to feedback. Treat that as the developer’s current target, not a guaranteed 1.0 date. Steam does not currently show a public semantic version number that turns the roadmap into a numbered release schedule.

Romance is the most important boundary for relationship-focused players. The present game supports meeting villagers and raising friendship, but the store places complete friendship events and romance for all bachelors in the full-version plan. You can prepare relationships now; you should not buy the launch build solely on the assumption that a particular complete romance or marriage route is already playable.

How to recognize the current endpoint

Story progression ends when the available first-half narrative no longer offers the next main step. Temple progression ends at the accessible launch boundary, regardless of whether a screen, announcement, or player calls the endpoint Level 19 or the twentieth room. Relationship progression stops at the current level cap. A locked future route at one of those boundaries is not automatically a broken quest.

Area
Current boundary
What to do there
Story
Officially the first half
Finish remaining side, relationship, building, collection, and Temple goals instead of searching for an unpublished continuation.
Temple
First 20 rooms / through Level 19
Use the accessible route and active objective; keep both official counting descriptions visible.
Friendship
Level 3
Complete available events and wait for dated official expansion notes before expecting a higher tier.
Romance
Complete paths belong to the 1.0 plan
Treat current relationship play as friendship progression unless the game explicitly presents a released romance event.

If you reach an apparent endpoint earlier than these broad limits, read the task log, revisit the relevant character, and confirm required restoration or tool steps. The official scope describes total available content, not a promise that all of it opens without prerequisites.

Base game, Demo, and old Alpha material

The Early Access base game is AppID 2561630. The Steam Demo is a separate application, AppID 4684100. On October 11, Oxalis Games explained that saves from the previous Demo were incompatible with the updated October Demo and require a restart. Progress made in the updated Demo released on October 12 can carry into Early Access.

That rule is generation-specific. “Demo progress transfers” is true only for the updated October Demo, while “the old Demo save must restart” is also true. Identify which client created the save before following transfer advice. An old Alpha guide, old Web3-era document, or May Demo walkthrough may still show recognizable systems, but its prices, requirements, map state, quests, and compatibility are not current proof for the public Early Access branch.

The soundtrack is a separate Music application, AppID 4791030. Store bundles combine products for purchase convenience; they do not create a different gameplay edition or a separate content path. The site therefore treats 2561630 as the only base-game gameplay identity.

Platform and feature limits

Steam lists the base game for Windows, with Windows 11 in the minimum requirements. It also lists single-player, Steam Cloud, Full Controller Support, and Steam Deck Playable. Native macOS and native Linux versions are not listed. Deck play belongs to the SteamOS/Proton compatibility path and may still need touch input, the virtual keyboard, or a community layout in some situations.

Steam Cloud confirms that cloud synchronization is a product feature. It does not, by itself, document the local save directory, conflict resolution, or recovery behavior across every Windows account and Deck prefix. Back up a save before replacing either side of a cloud conflict.

The language table visible on the store was still changing around launch. The release announcement says Indonesian was added, while the captured store table clearly lists English, Spanish-Spain, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese. Use the language selector visible in your own current client rather than assuming a roadmap or announcement means every interface and subtitle field has already propagated to every region.

Decide whether to start now or wait

Start now if the current loop—farming, crafting, village restoration, building, exploration, and capped relationships—is enough for you, and if you are comfortable with changing balance and occasional launch issues. The available content supports many parallel projects even though the main story and relationship arcs are incomplete.

Wait for 1.0 or a later milestone if your main reason to play is a finished story, complete romance routes, a larger Temple, finalized balance, or a fixed feature set. Early Access is explicitly a development period shaped by feedback. Waiting is a reasonable way to protect a first playthrough from incomplete arcs or repeated progression changes.
